An’s Cafe in Da Nang Review

An’s Cafe in Da Nang stands out as a venue that delivers exceptional brunch options without complicating the menu, all while offering incredible bang for your buck. In a landscape where “expat pricing” is becoming the norm, discovering a location that harmonizes substantial portion sizes, high quality, and local affordability is a significant victory. Since my first visit several months ago, this spot has evolved into a regular fixture in my weekly schedule. The standout item for me is the omelet accompanied by toast and sausage; it is a top – tier dish that costs only 55,000 VND (roughly $2.20 USD).

For digital nomads and travelers seeking a breakfast destination that is dependable and lacks pretension, I have officially added An’s Cafe to my roster of the premier places to eat in Da Nang.

The Vibe and Atmosphere

When you arrive at An’s Cafe, the first element that grabs your attention is the ambiance. It perfectly embodies the authentic “open – air” coffee shop aesthetic that Vietnam is renowned for. While the lack of air conditioning might seem daunting initially, do not let that discourage you. The interior is outfitted with plenty of industrial – strength wall fans that maintain a consistent breeze, ensuring the space remains surprisingly pleasant, even during the warmer mornings in Da Nang.

The seating arrangement offers a combination of tables inside and a handful of spots outside, which are ideal for observing the activity on Loseby Street. This isn’t designed as a co – working space where one might camp out with a laptop for eight hours; instead, it offers a relaxed setting suitable for reading a book, enjoying a meal, or catching up with friends absent the constant hum of an A/C compressor. The decor prioritizes cleanliness and excellent service over “Instagram – ready” flashiness, remaining simple and unpretentious.

Getting There and Neighborhood Context

Located in the Son Tra district of Da Nang, An’s Cafe sits on Loseby Street. It is situated right next to the Sunview Beach Hotel, which is a highly – rated budget accommodation option just a five – minute journey from the sand.

To truly grasp the location, it is useful to understand the geography of Da Nang’s coastal districts. Son Tra is located to the north of the popular My An area and Ngu Hanh Son. My An, frequently referred to as the “An Thuong” neighborhood, is a busy tourist center filled with burger joints, taco shops, and Western – style bars. In contrast, Son Tra feels less chaotic, is quieter, and offers a more local atmosphere. It places you closer to the route leading up to the Lady Buddha and traditional fishing communities like Man Thai.

If your accommodation is within the An Thuong streets or the general My An area, walking to An’s Cafe is not a viable option – the heat can be misleadingly intense, and the distance is too great. However, transportation is affordable; a ride via GrabTaxi or GrabBike will typically cost between 25,000 to 50,000 VND ($1 or $2 USD). The safest and most convenient method for navigating the city is the Grab App (downloadable here), as it locks in the price before you enter the vehicle.

The Food: Brunch Favorites

While I frequently dine here in the afternoon or just before the 5 PM closing time, the menu at An’s Cafe is primarily designed around brunch and breakfast. The kitchen specializes in comfort foods that effectively bridge the gap between local ingredients and Western cravings.

The menu features a variety of options including an English breakfast, omelets, scrambled eggs, tuna and egg sandwiches, avocado toast, fruit oatmeal with peanut butter, and granola bowls.

As evidenced by my photos, I am a massive enthusiast of the omelet. Priced at 55,000 VND, this dish features mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, egg, sausage, and toast. The value for money is excellent, and it is incredibly tasty. The baguette toast adheres to the Vietnamese standard – soft on the inside and crispy on the outside – while the eggs are prepared to be fluffy rather than greasy. When compared to other “Western – style” cafes in Da Nang where similar omelets can easily exceed 120,000 VND, the price point at An’s is unrivaled.

Healthy Start: Juices and Bowls

You will notice various juices featured in my images as well. An’s offers a selection of drinks, but their mixed juices – made without added sugars – are excellent. Rehydrating with one of these is a fantastic strategy after a morning swim at My Khe Beach.

  • The Ruby Slipper (red): A mix of lime, beet, carrot, and apple. This juice is sweet and earthy.
  • Greenglow (green): A combination of cucumber, pineapple, and kale. Thanks to the pineapple, it isn’t too “grassy” and is very refreshing.
  • Tarrot (orange): A blend of ginger, carrot, and apple. The ginger provides a pleasant spicy kick that helps wake you up.

Considering these are fresh – pressed juices, the price of 30,000 VND each is essentially a steal.

Sandwiches and Lunch Options

I have also sampled the various sandwich offerings at An’s Cafe. Currently, she provides four distinct options: ham and cheese, egg and cheese, egg and ham, or tuna. These sandwiches are priced at either 49,000 VND or 55,000 VND. As is typical with everything at An’s Cafe, they represent great value for money and are quite filling.

These differ from traditional Banh Mi street sandwiches; they lean closer to a Western – style baguette or toasted sandwich, making them a substantial choice for lunch. If you have plans to visit the Son Tra Peninsula (Monkey Mountain) for the afternoon, picking one of these up to – go is a solid strategy.

Coffee and Smoothies

Beyond the mixed juices and food, An’s also serves Italian – style and Vietnamese coffees, as well as fruit and specialty smoothies.

For those new to Vietnam, trying the local coffee styles is a must. While standard black coffee is available, you should look for options such as Ca Phe Sua Da (strong iced coffee with condensed milk) or Bac Xiu (coffee featuring ice and a large amount of condensed milk). The coffee served here is robust and strong, ideal for jumpstarting a day of exploration.

I visit An’s Cafe regularly and I am a huge fan. It truly embodies the charm of Da Nang: laid – back, affordable, and friendly.
